Who We Are
Reflect Productions GY CIC is a community-focused arts organisation based in Great Yarmouth. We use theatre, storytelling and creative practice to support mental health, wellbeing and social connection — particularly for people who feel isolated, lack confidence, or find it hard to access other kinds of support.
We are a Community Interest Company, which means we exist to benefit our community rather than to make profit for shareholders. Our assets are protected by an asset lock, so everything we generate goes back into our work.
Our work is rooted in lived experience. Reflect Productions GY CIC is led by people who have personal experience of mental health challenges, and that shapes how we do everything — from how we run a session to how we talk about mental health publicly. Our production *Matt* is itself based on real experiences of depression, addiction and recovery.
What We Do
Community workshops: Free weekly creative sessions in Great Yarmouth for adults experiencing poor mental health, isolation or low confidence. No experience needed, no pressure to perform, and no one has to explain themselves. Our National Lottery Awards for All-funded programme, The Next Stage, ran for 38 weeks and engaged 63 local people.
Theatre: "Matt" is our touring production exploring depression, addiction and recovery, drawn from real stories from Great Yarmouth. Supported by Arts Council England, it tours nationally in autumn 2026 to Great Yarmouth, Peterborough, Boston, Cambridge and Colchester.
Documentary and digital work: Voices of Great Yarmouth, funded by Norfolk Community Foundation's Love Norfolk Fund, gives local residents a platform to share their own filmed accounts of mental health, resilience and recovery.
How We Work
We start from what people bring. Our participants arrive with life experience, humour, resilience and stories. Our sessions are built to draw those out, not to deliver a lesson.
We remove barriers. Sessions are free. Venues are local and accessible. We support travel costs where they would otherwise stop someone attending. We use plain English, and we offer an informal chat before a first session because we know walking through the door is often the hardest part.
We go at the participant's pace. No one is required to perform, read aloud, or disclose anything about themselves. People can step back at any point without explaining why.
We work in partnership. We refer and signpost to specialist support where someone needs more than a creative programme can offer — principally through our partnership with Norfolk & Waveney Mind.
Our Directors
Reflect Productions GY CIC is governed by a board of three directors, which meets quarterly.
Peter Dewar — Director, Designated Safeguarding Lead
Peter is a theatre director, writer and actor with a background in Applied Drama and Arts Education. He wrote and directed "Matt", drawing on real stories from Great Yarmouth residents, and has designed and delivered mental health awareness programmes in schools. He has performed in nationally significant work including "Provisional Figures" at the Norfolk & Norwich Festival, with screen credits including the BBC's "Doctors" and many more. He leads on creative direction, programme design and safeguarding.
Manuela De Pina Martins — Director, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
Manuela is a qualified lawyer and brings legal expertise to the organisation's governance, contracts and compliance. Her background supports robust decision-making at board level and strengthens our policies, including safeguarding and data protection.
Ivan Divic — Director
Ivan brings marketing expertise, supporting audience development, digital outreach and communications. This strengthens our ability to reach people across Great Yarmouth who might not otherwise hear about our work.
Safeguarding and Policies
We work with adults at risk, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We have a tailored safeguarding policy covering both children and adults at risk, reviewed annually and updated in line with Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership guidance. Peter Dewar is our Designated Safeguarding Lead and Manuela De Pina Martins is Deputy DSL; both are trained and named in the policy, with clear escalation routes to Norfolk's statutory services.
All staff, freelancers and volunteers read and sign our safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct, complete a safeguarding induction before working with participants, and hold appropriate DBS clearance. Safeguarding training is renewed at least every three years.
We also hold a Whistleblowing Policy, Safer Recruitment Policy, Code of Conduct, Online Safety Policy, and Confidentiality and Information Sharing Policy. These are available on request.
