VOICES OF GREAT YARMOUTH

Community Stories on Mental Health

Real people. Real stories. Real voices.

A powerful community documentary sharing honest lived experiences of mental health, recovery, resilience and hope from people across Great Yarmouth.

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY

Voices of Great Yarmouth: Community Stories on Mental Health was created by Reflect Productions GY to give local people a safe platform to speak openly and honestly about their experiences.

Through personal conversations, the film explores difficult times, isolation, anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, recovery, resilience, connection and hope.

At its heart, the documentary has one simple purpose:

To help people feel less alone.

FROM ONE SCREENING TO TWO

The documentary was originally due to receive one free public screening at the Palace Cinema, Gorleston. The response from the community was so strong that a second screening was added for the following day.

- Saturday 5 September 2026 - 87 attendees

- Sunday 6 September 2026 - 48 attendees

Total: 135 people

The screenings brought together participants, families, friends and members of the wider community to listen, reflect and talk openly about mental health.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTICIPANTS

Every participant gave something deeply personal to this project.

Your honesty, courage and willingness to speak openly made the documentary possible.

Without your voices, there would be no film.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor to the screening, who spoke about the importance of listening. compassion, community and open conversations around mental health.

THE STORY DOESN'T END HERE

The response has opened up the possibility of something much bigger.

We are now exploring opportunitiess for Voices of Great Yarmouth to reach wider audiences through future screenings, partnerships and collaborations.

Further development of the project will begin following our current theatre tour, which concludes in November 2026.

This may only be the beginning of the documentary's journey.

CAN I WATCH THE FULL DOCUMENTARY ONLINE?

Following the response to our cinema screenings, we are currently exploring future opportunities for the documentary, including further screenings and potential collaborations.

For this reason, the full film is not currently being made publicly.

We want to develop the next stage carefully, while respecting the people who trusted us with their stories.

Further viewing opportunities will be announced in due course.
